Best Daily Running Shoes & Everyday Trainers

A good daily running shoe should be the pair you can reach for without thinking.

It needs enough cushioning for easy miles, enough comfort for longer runs and enough versatility to cope when the pace starts to increase. But daily trainers now cover a huge range.

Some are soft and relaxed. Others are light and responsive enough to handle tempo sessions. Some offer huge amounts of cushioning, while modern super trainers blur the line between an everyday shoe and a performance model.

At RUNNABL3, I test daily running shoes through real training, looking at comfort, cushioning, stability, grip, fit, durability and how each shoe performs across different paces.

This guide brings together some of the best daily trainers I have tested, including the QIAODAN Lieli 2.0 GT, adidas Adizero Evo SL, 361° MEGA 3 Pro, ASICS Megablast and QIAODAN Lieli 2.0 TG.

What Is a Daily Running Shoe?

A daily trainer is a running shoe designed to handle the majority of your weekly mileage.

For most runners, that means a combination of:

  • easy runs

  • steady runs

  • aerobic mileage

  • long runs

  • recovery runs

  • occasional faster sessions

The best daily running shoes are not necessarily the softest or the lightest. They are the shoes that give you the right balance of comfort, protection, stability and versatility for the type of training you do most often.

Some runners want one shoe that can do almost everything. Others prefer a softer daily trainer alongside a faster workout shoe and a dedicated race-day super shoe.

Neither approach is wrong.

My Best Daily Running Shoes

QIAODAN Lieli 2.0 GT — Best Overall Daily Trainer

The QIAODAN Lieli 2.0 GT is currently one of the most impressive daily trainers I have tested.

At just 201g in my UK size 9, it combines a high-stack PEBA-based midsole with excellent grip, strong stability and a ride that becomes noticeably more responsive as the pace increases.

What makes the Lieli GT stand out is versatility.

It is soft enough for everyday mileage but light and responsive enough for tempo running, intervals, track sessions and even racing. In my own testing, it has been one of those rare shoes that works across almost the entire training week.

I currently rate it above the ASICS Megablast for overall enjoyment, while the adidas Evo SL still has a slight edge when I want the sharpest feel at faster paces.

Best for: Daily mileage, long runs, tempo sessions and faster training
Ride: Soft, bouncy and highly responsive
Weight: 201g in my UK size 9
Main strength: Exceptional versatility
Value: Around £70–£75 when I bought mine
Overall score: 4.9/5

adidas Adizero Evo SL — Best for Faster Daily Training

The adidas Adizero Evo SL is one of the strongest options if you want a daily trainer that feels genuinely fast.

It brings a much more performance-focused feel than a traditional everyday shoe and works particularly well for runners who regularly turn steady runs into progression runs or want one trainer capable of handling both daily mileage and faster sessions.

Compared with more cushioned daily trainers, the Evo SL feels lighter, sharper and more direct.

Best for: Daily training, progression runs, tempo sessions and faster aerobic work
Ride: Light, responsive and energetic
Best suited to: Runners who want a daily trainer that does not feel slow
Main strength: Speed and versatility
Main consideration: Less relaxed than a softer recovery-focused trainer

For runners building a small shoe rotation, the Evo SL is particularly useful because it can cover such a wide range of paces.

361° MEGA 3 Pro — Best High-Performance Super Trainer

The 361° MEGA 3 Pro sits at the performance end of the daily-training spectrum.

It combines substantial cushioning with a more energetic, speed-focused ride than a traditional daily trainer. That makes it particularly appealing for runners who want one shoe capable of handling regular mileage while still feeling good when the pace increases.

I would place the MEGA 3 Pro alongside shoes such as the Evo SL and Lieli GT rather than alongside slow, traditional recovery shoes.

Best for: Daily mileage, long runs, steady efforts and faster training
Ride: Cushioned, responsive and performance-focused
Main strength: Super-trainer versatility
Best suited to: Runners who want one shoe to cover both volume and speed

ASICS Megablast — Best for Cushioned Long Runs

The ASICS Megablast is the more protective option in this group.

It offers a large amount of cushioning while still remaining lively enough to work for more than just slow recovery running.

That makes it a particularly strong option for runners who want comfort over longer distances or who simply prefer having more protection underneath them during higher-mileage weeks.

Best for: Easy runs, long runs and high-mileage training
Ride: Cushioned, protective and efficient
Best suited to: Runners who prioritise comfort and protection
Main strength: Long-run cushioning
Main consideration: More substantial underfoot than the Evo SL or Lieli GT

If the Lieli GT is the more exciting and versatile option, the Megablast is the shoe I would look towards when comfort and protection become the priority.

QIAODAN Lieli 2.0 TG — Best Value Traditional Daily Trainer

The QIAODAN Lieli 2.0 TG is the more conventional daily trainer in the Lieli range.

At around £60–£70, it offers a 44mm heel stack, PEBA-based cushioning, a smooth ride and surprisingly good grip for considerably less than many mainstream daily trainers.

The ride reminds me strongly of the ASICS Novablast 5. It is soft, comfortable and easy-going, but there is still enough rebound in the midsole to keep it feeling lively.

The GT is the faster and more exciting shoe. The TG makes more sense if you simply want comfort, value and reliable everyday mileage.

Best for: Easy runs, daily mileage and steady training
Ride: Soft, smooth and naturally rolling
Weight: Around 254g in my UK size 9
Main strength: Comfort and value
Value: Around £60–£70

Best Daily Trainer for Easy Runs

For easy running, I generally prioritise comfort, stability and a ride that does not force the pace.

QIAODAN Lieli 2.0 TG

The Lieli TG is probably the most natural fit in this group if your main priority is relaxed daily mileage.

Its softer, smoother ride makes it easy to use without constantly encouraging you to increase the pace.

ASICS Megablast

The Megablast is the more cushioned option.

If you want maximum protection and comfort over longer easy runs, this type of high-stack setup makes a lot of sense.

Best Daily Trainer for Faster Runs

Some daily trainers are much better than others when the pace starts to increase.

adidas Adizero Evo SL

This is where the Evo SL really stands out.

Its low weight and sharper ride make it a strong option for tempo sessions, progression runs and quicker aerobic training.

QIAODAN Lieli 2.0 GT

The Lieli GT is also extremely good here.

It remains soft and comfortable at easier paces, but the foam becomes noticeably more energetic once you start running faster. That is a big part of why I rate it so highly as an all-round trainer.

Best Daily Trainer for Long Runs

Long-run shoes need more than softness.

They need enough protection to keep your legs comfortable while still remaining efficient as fatigue starts to build.

361° MEGA 3 Pro

The MEGA 3 Pro makes a lot of sense for longer runs because it combines cushioning with a more energetic super-trainer feel.

That can be particularly useful if your long runs include faster blocks or marathon-pace sections.

ASICS Megablast

The Megablast is the more comfort-focused choice.

If the goal is simply to cover a lot of mileage with plenty of protection underneath you, this is where it makes the most sense.

QIAODAN Lieli 2.0 GT

The GT also deserves a place here because its low weight and high stack make it unusually versatile over longer distances.

It gives you protection without feeling heavy, which is one of its biggest advantages.

Best Daily Trainer for a One-Shoe Rotation

Not every runner wants five different shoes.

If you want one pair to handle most of your weekly training, versatility becomes extremely important.

QIAODAN Lieli 2.0 GT

If I wanted one daily trainer to cover almost everything, this would currently be extremely difficult to beat.

It is light enough for fast running, cushioned enough for long runs and comfortable enough for regular daily mileage.

adidas Adizero Evo SL

The Evo SL is another strong option if you value speed more than maximum cushioning.

It gives up some easy-day softness, but it is one of the best choices if you want your everyday trainer to feel fast.

361° MEGA 3 Pro

The MEGA 3 Pro makes more sense if you prefer a larger, more cushioned platform while still wanting plenty of performance.

Lightweight Daily Trainers vs Max-Cushioned Daily Trainers

One of the biggest decisions when choosing an everyday running shoe is how much shoe you actually want underneath you.

Lightweight Daily Trainers

Shoes such as the adidas Evo SL and QIAODAN Lieli GT prioritise:

  • lower weight

  • faster transitions

  • easier turnover

  • more versatility at speed

These are ideal for runners who dislike heavy trainers or regularly mix steady running with faster work.

Max-Cushioned Daily Trainers

Shoes such as the ASICS Megablast place more emphasis on:

  • impact protection

  • comfort

  • long-distance cushioning

  • reducing fatigue over higher mileage

Neither style is automatically better.

It depends on how you train.

What Is a Super Trainer?

The term super trainer is increasingly used for daily running shoes that borrow technology from race-day super shoes.

That usually means some combination of:

  • premium foam

  • high stack height

  • aggressive rocker geometry

  • stiffening elements or plates

  • lightweight construction

  • strong energy return

The 361° MEGA 3 Pro fits naturally into this category.

The QIAODAN Lieli 2.0 GT also shows how far the category has moved. You can now get a high-stack, lightweight, responsive daily trainer without necessarily needing a carbon plate.

For many runners, a super trainer can become the most-used shoe in the rotation.

Daily Trainers vs Race-Day Super Shoes

Daily trainers and race shoes have different priorities.

A race shoe is generally designed around:

  • low weight

  • speed

  • propulsion

  • race efficiency

A daily trainer needs to balance performance with:

  • durability

  • comfort

  • stability

  • protection

  • frequent use

That is why I would not use a dedicated race shoe for every run.

A good daily trainer allows you to complete the bulk of your mileage comfortably while saving your most aggressive footwear for workouts and races where it actually matters.

Are Expensive Daily Running Shoes Worth It?

Not always.

Daily trainers absorb the majority of your weekly mileage, so value matters.

A £250 racing shoe may only be used occasionally. A daily trainer might be used several times every week.

That makes durability and cost-per-mile particularly important.

It is also why shoes such as the QIAODAN Lieli GT and TG are so interesting.

The GT cost me around £70–£75, while the TG was around £60–£70, yet both offer modern PEBA-based cushioning at prices far below many established competitors.

That does not automatically make cheaper shoes better.

But it does mean runners now have much more choice.

How to Choose the Right Daily Running Shoe

Think About Your Weekly Mileage

If you run twice per week, your needs may be very different from someone running six or seven days.

Higher-mileage runners usually benefit from more protection and durability.

Consider Your Typical Pace

If most of your mileage is genuinely easy, comfort may matter more than responsiveness.

If you regularly turn easy runs into progression runs, something like the Evo SL or Lieli GT may make more sense.

Think About Your Long Runs

If you regularly run for 90 minutes or longer, pay attention to how the shoe feels later in the run.

A shoe that feels exciting for the first 20 minutes may become much less enjoyable once fatigue sets in.

Consider Stability

High-stack shoes can sometimes feel less controlled.

If you value stability, do not simply choose the shoe with the largest amount of cushioning.

Decide Whether You Want One Shoe or a Rotation

If you use several shoes, each can be more specialised.

If you want one pair to do almost everything, versatility becomes much more important.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best daily running shoe?

There is no single best daily trainer for every runner.

From my current testing, the QIAODAN Lieli 2.0 GT is probably the strongest all-rounder because it combines low weight, cushioning and speed unusually well. For faster training, the adidas Evo SL is one of the strongest choices.

For longer and more cushioned running, the ASICS Megablast and 361° MEGA 3 Pro make more sense.

Can I use a daily trainer for races?

Yes.

Many runners race perfectly well in daily trainers.

A dedicated race shoe may be faster, but a daily trainer can offer more comfort and stability, particularly for newer runners.

Can I use one running shoe for everything?

Absolutely.

You do not need a large shoe rotation.

A versatile trainer such as the QIAODAN Lieli GT, adidas Evo SL or 361° MEGA 3 Pro can cover a huge amount of training.

How long should daily running shoes last?

It depends on the shoe, runner, surface and running style.

Rather than relying on one fixed mileage number, look for changes in cushioning, outsole wear, stability and how your legs feel after running.

Should daily running shoes be soft?

Not necessarily.

Some runners prefer very soft cushioning.

Others feel much better in firmer shoes with a quicker transition.

Comfort is individual.

Are Chinese daily running shoes any good?

Yes.

My experience with shoes such as the QIAODAN Lieli 2.0 GT, Lieli 2.0 TG and 361° MEGA 3 Pro shows that Chinese brands are now producing daily trainers that deserve to be compared directly with established global models.

The important thing is to judge the shoe itself rather than the logo.

Final Thoughts

Daily trainers are the most important shoes in most running rotations.

Race shoes may get more attention, but your everyday trainers are the shoes that carry you through the majority of your weekly mileage.

If I wanted one daily trainer to cover almost everything, the QIAODAN Lieli 2.0 GT would currently be extremely difficult to beat. It is remarkably light, highly cushioned, fast enough for workouts and comfortable enough for regular mileage.

The adidas Evo SL remains the sharper option when outright speed matters most, while the 361° MEGA 3 Pro gives you more of a high-stack super-trainer experience.

For longer cushioned running, the ASICS Megablast remains one of the strongest established options, while the QIAODAN Lieli 2.0 TG is the better choice if you simply want a comfortable, traditional daily trainer at an exceptional price.

There is no single perfect daily running shoe.

The best option depends on whether you prioritise speed, cushioning, versatility or value.

That is what RUNNABL3 testing is designed to help you find.
